How are you all?

Before i start, goodness, i have to say this in case i forget again...

yesterday, i took a nap from 2pm until like 5ish. when i woke up, i looked outside my left window and saw blue sky, small clouds, some breeze and thought, hey it's still a nice day outside. BUT! then i heard this roaring and pounding like thunder and i was like *eh?* and so i asked my bro who was in the room next door if he heard thunder and he said yeh it's full pouring. i was like, *wtf?* and when i looked outside my right window, it was literally dark and gloomy, all cloudy and stuff...

NO JOKE!

i was literally watching the transition! omg! it was nice on one side and it was pouring on the other side! OMG!

wow, i bought all these cuticle cleaning tools today. i felt sooo professional and good about myself until i started doing my cuticles. all hail youtube! if it wasnt for youtube i would have totally stuffed up. having said that, i did stuff up and dug the cuticle trimmer into the side of my finger. the nail polish is really stinging my finger right now. i dont think it's a healthy thing but oh well, it'll go away soon =P

It feels great to be *connected*, which reminds me of the time during high school when ICQ was THE connection and the first thing people would do when they got home from school was go ONLINE. I remember when i used to really love that *ding dong dong dong* sound the dial up modem made when it was connecting. Oh, the feeling of being connected. How wonderful.

I Did It.

I have done it. I am now officially a mean bitch and it is like my head is saying one thing and then my conscience is saying another.

I seriously need to rant because I think I need anger management. I just cannot stand stupid people anymore. Mum said I think they're stupid because they're not following what I am saying and she said that is not how I should categorise people. I must say it's really hard not to think someone's stupid especially when everything you say is pretty dumbed down. Well, to what I think is dumbed down.

I think people get stress from work not from the tasks they have to do but the people they have to deal with along the way. I guess everyone would want the world to be run according to their own ideals. Everyone believes if they ruled the world, it would be absolute Utopia. But hey, back to reality.

I mean, I know I jump to conclusions but I have never seen someone jump to so many conclusions PLUS make so assumptions. It's not a nice feeling to get pissed off. But how hard is it to see something when it has been drawn out to you? Literally.

Everyone gets defensive and it's normal and most of the time people get defensive when they feel attacked. That's normal, too. I was pretty angry today. Angry because I was offended because I felt someone didn't follow my logic. And I felt that was plain stupidity. That was already enough until I felt my intelligence was further insulted. Man, at this moment, I am still struggling to go over what actually happened. Honestly, I think I blacked out from anger and there was a stage when I felt like crying. Oh God... I literally felt my face burning up. I don't think I was just pissed off. I was fking pissed off.

The thing is, everyone was just talking about their own opinion, which is not wrong per se (and it's not the first time). It's chaotic when everyone is on different channels. That's confusing and is probably the most frustrating thing anyone will ever have to endure. But why do I get so worked up about everything, anyway? I don't see anyone else being so emotionally attached to this. I think I take things too seriously and when someone blocks my way of reaching a result, let alone question my ability, I get defensive. Maybe I should just not take things as serious anymore? I just cannot bear to see something I have actively willed myself into participating so turn out a flop, where those who watch from afar and those coming after me will turn around and laugh at how much of a loser and a failure I was. That is how I feel right now and I don't want results like before. I don't want to turn into another burnt out flame. But what is there to do when everyone else looks at you and think you're the bitch for saying how you feel? It's like, 'Hey, I know I said that but I didn't mean it enough for you to say it?'.

I've been through this frustration before when I think about what I have gotten myself into? Far out, I have literally done what I said I will do for the past three months and at first it didn't feel like much but after 5 minutes, I was thinking, 'Oh... that was it'. Now what? I still feel like a total bitch who complains about everything and who everyone is scared of because I am a total Nazi.

And to add fuel to the fire, I hate the silence that follows after everytime I point out something that everyone complains about and bitches about but when it comes to confrontation, everyone backs out. I don't care if I am the one to voices out the negativity but just don't make me feel as if I were the only person thinking it and I am the only one picking nits. I don't like being the bitch but I am willing to do so as long as I don't have to go home and channel it out over something else. I totally believe in karma and honestly, it's all going to come back to get me someday. Mum and dad told me to really think about whether I need to put myself through all this? I mean, I don't need to put up with everything and continue to be the bitch - what is there to prove? I bend over my back even during exam times so I can make phone calls to people about things I don't need to care.

I have tried to talk to my friend about this and her and her sister said it's my conscience calling. Maybe deep down I think what I did was excessive. Maybe it was? I don't know. At this point in time, I don't know what's wrong and what's right. All I know is that I have split up a whole team because I was the one who voiced it all out.

Nothing's going to be the same again and I'll let you know if I decide to pull out because of this massive guilt trip I'm on right now.

Befriending your boss on Facebook

In the early days, the social-networking site Facebook had the feel of an exclusive club. You needed a college e-mail address to join, so for its young users, there wasn't much chance of a parent or boss crashing the party.

Those days are long gone. The site has been open to everyone since 2006, and its fastest-growing demographic is people 25 and older. Members of the corporate world - particularly in the media and information industries - are flocking to the site, deeming it a great networking and communication tool.

As a result, young workers who have been on the site since college are increasingly confronted with a difficult question: What should I do if a boss or co-worker tries to add me as a "friend"?

If they accept the request, they could be giving up more personal information than they would ever share at the office. If they don't accept, the boss might be offended. Besides the professional ramifications, being "poked" (the Facebook equivalent of a friendly nudge) by your boss has the potential to ruin the site in the same way that hearing your dad say "bling" instantly made that word's coolness evaporate.

Perhaps sensing that users are struggling with friend requests from bosses and co-workers, Facebook - which has 69 million active users worldwide - rolled out more privacy controls last week that allow users to group their friends into lists and choose how much information the people on those lists can see.

Social-networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace let users create profiles where they post photos, list their hobbies and interact with other users, who can also post items on their profiles. Besides friends, a Facebook user can see only the profiles of other users in the same "network," which could be based on a school, employer or location. MySpace profiles do not have the same network-based restrictions, but like Facebook, the site does offer privacy controls that let users choose even stricter settings.

Geno Mehalik, 24, a Central Florida hospital employee, said that although he doesn't censor the political views or photos he puts on his Facebook profile, he is careful not to post information that could get him fired.

"I'm unabashedly myself on my Facebook," Mr Mehalik said. "I'm not an idealised, politically correct version of myself."

He just doesn't feel comfortable sharing his whole personality with his boss.

"If you get too buddy-buddy with your superiors, it can screw up the dynamics of the relationship," Mr Mehalik said. "There will always be a gap between who you are at work and who you are at home. But if you have your boss on Facebook, you are putting it all out there."

Mr Mehalik said his boss, who has children his age, is "too professional" to try to add him on a social-networking site. If it did happen, Mr Mehalik said he would tell his boss the request made him uncomfortable.

Others, such as Virginia McComb, 26, have discovered that even if you really are friends with a co-worker, having him or her as a Facebook friend can be problematic. In November, McComb was working at a bank in South Carolina when she secretly got married to a man living in Orlando. She planned to tell co-workers she was married and preparing to move to Florida, but only after another vacant position had been filled.

Because most of her Facebook friends knew about the wedding, she didn't think twice about changing her "relationship status" from "engaged" to "married" on her online profile.

"Then one day I logged onto Facebook and it said, 'So-and-so wants to be your friend,"' Mr McComb said. "And I was like, 'Oh, no, she works with me,' and I knew that if she would have seen that I was married, she would have gone back to work and told everybody. So I changed my status back to engaged, and then I accepted the friend request."

Mr McComb was able to keep the secret, and when she finally told her co-workers, they laughed and wished her well.

Because Facebook, MySpace and other social-networking sites are so new, there isn't universally agreed-upon etiquette. One thing many people agree on: It's OK to accept a friend request from a subordinate, but it's not OK to send one to a subordinate.

"That's an intrusion into their lives," said Fred Stutzman, 29, a doctoral student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who teaches a class on online social networks. "It's like the boss inviting themselves to their subordinate's party."

To avoid issues with co-workers, others suggested using Facebook's privacy controls to limit information or only connecting with colleagues and bosses on more-professional networking sites such as LinkedIn.

As an "older" Facebook user, Eric Longstaff, 38, has been on both sides of the issue. He's a sales manager at an Orlando retail store and imagines that his younger subordinates and co-workers are probably shocked if they find his profile. Yet when he recently discovered the profile of his younger boss, who has worked at the company longer, he freaked out and hoped she wouldn't find his profile.

"I thought that maybe she might think a little less of me for some reason," Longstaff said. "Which is weird because we have a very open environment, and there isn't anything on there that I'm ashamed of."

Longstaff said that as he gets to know his boss better, he might feel more comfortable making her his friend. And although he has accepted friend requests from younger people he supervised at a previous job, he sometimes wonders whether that was the right move.

"There are people who are in college that want to be your friend," Longstaff said. "And I'm thinking, 'I'm fricking old. I don't want a 20-year-old who can't drink to be my friend on Facebook.' But you don't want to (upset them) because you are their boss, and you want them to feel comfortable coming to talk to you."

There are some good things that can happen if the boss can see your Facebook profile. A few weeks ago, Mr Mehalik's boss had some extra tickets to an event that he knew Mr Mehalik wanted to attend. But he had misplaced his mobile phone number. So he got it from the one place he thought he could find it in a pinch: Mr Mehalik's Facebook profile.

I have a new sewing machine
It's totally awesome and I love it so much. I've still got to attend those lessons at a community centre with old, wrinkly ladies, working their magic with a sewing machine...

I want four kids instead of six
This is because I am taking into account my current AGE, which poses as a real problem... (moving swiftly on...)

I am desperate for a clutch
I've been looking for a clutch I can take out whenever, wherever without looking too dressed up, yet not entire under dressed? Currentlly considering making my own with my new sewing machine...

Easy Mixes of the 80s and 90s
Once again, my mental age has placed me in a new age bracket before my age does. Though it has been almost a year since I left the 18-21 bracket, I have been feeling the generation gap between *youths* and myself ever so strongly lately. Especially when all the *cool* songs are now on 106.5, with the occasional song on 104.1... I couldn't believe that a song that used to be played on 104.1 during the early years of high school has now migrated to 106.5. It made me reflect on intimidated by high school kids I am now, seeing them around the station, on George Street, around the library... and then tut tutting them, thinking *I was never like that* or *Why don't they go home?*. I was never a child because I was born an adult. True story.

Light at the end of the tunnel
I am literally 1.5 semesters away from the end of my first 5 years of studies at uni. 5 years is a long time and now, when I tell high school kids about uni, speaking of STAT170 or ACST101, actually sends a wave of reminiscence over me.

A female Hong Kong pop star at the centre of a sex photos scandal has been banned from singing at the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, a news report said today.

Singer Gillian Chung was one of a number of starlets pictured romping naked with singer-actor Edison Chen in photos downloaded from his laptop when he took it in for repairs and widely circulated on the internet.

The popular 27-year-old singer had been due to perform at the Olympics opening ceremony in August but has now been dumped because of the scandal, the South China Morning Post reported.

The ceremony's artistic director Zhang Yimou decided to take Chung off the bill after the scandal broke and had replaced her and another Hong Kong star not involved in the photos incident with Chinese pop act A-One, the newspaper said.

Millions of people in China and Hong Kong have downloaded the pictures of Edison Chen and his starlet lovers in the weeks since the pictures from his laptop were uploaded onto the internet.

Chen, 27, flew back to Hong Kong last week to issue a public apology to the women involved in the scandal and to announce he was abandoning his show business career after completing existing commitments.

More than 2000 people complained when Chung appeared on a charity TV show at the height of the scandal a fortnight ago and she was forced to scrap a public appearance last Saturday when protesters threatened to disrupt her performance.

A 23-year-old computer technician has been charged with using a computer for dishonest intent and has been released on police bail after a series of brief court appearances and a stretch in custody.

The scandal over the pictures has tainted the saccharine-sweet image of Hong Kong's so-called Canto-pop industry whose cheesy romantic melodies sung in Cantonese sell by their millions in Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan.

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialling the number you have stored as 'ICE'.

It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

New Legislation M5 & M7 Re Speeding Fines

M5 and the M7 are now equipped with Point to Point speed devices.

Once you enter the M7 for instance you pass the etag and it beeps. At the same time a camera takes a photo of your car and records the exact time. For those who have exited the M7 they would be aware that upon exit the etag system beeps again as you leave. At the same time another camera at that point takes a photo of the car and the time. Then the computer calculates the time it has taken you totravel between the two points and calculates your speed. If you have completed the clocked journey too fast you are given aspeeding ticket.

At the present time the speed limit is 100K.P.H. and you have atolerance of 102 and no more. One fraction over that speed and you are issued with a fineautomatically. Remember, this is going to be a very costly experience for somedrivers. It is also going to mean vehicles will be travelling at 95 in order to ensure that no ticket is issued. What a shock some drivers are going to have when they have used thisroadway for a week and get a weeks tickets BOTH WAYS.
